PHANTASM – Complete OST
Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave

The Tall Man and the Last Days of Disco!

Always a crowd pleaser and still a cult classic, Phantasm was one of the first horror movies to break the unspoken rule that victims were supposed to scream, fall down, and cower until they were killed. Instead, orphaned brothers, Mike and Jody are resourceful and smart, aggressively pursuing the evil inside the funeral home with a shotgun and Colt pistol.

This drive-in favorite was a big success at the time of its release, and spawned three sequels. Little wonder; it includes an inventive story, likable characters, a runaway pace, evil dwarves cloaked in Army blankets and letha;, little silver balls. GOTTA LOVE THE SLVER BALLS! The end result is one of the better horror films of the late 1970s.

The score by the late Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave is a minature masterpiece – drawing effectively upon their soundworld of John Carpenter’s Halloween and The Exorcist, adding its own measure of atmosphere, creativity and original licks. As a reminder of place and time, the track “Phantasmagoria/Silver Sphere Disco” is ESSENTIAL LISTENING!
