TWO SEMINAL BAVA SOUNDTRACKS!br> There can be no question that we are experiencing a Bava renaissance! And here is an ridiculously rare collection of TWO complete soundtracks for his enormously influential films. The score to Bava’s anthology film, “Black Sabbath” (AKA I Tre Volti della Paura) is probably best known to North American coolectors in the wonderful but overwrought orchestrations of Les Baxter. In Roberto Nicolosi’s original conception, the music is argueable more effective, better capturing the different time periods and settings of each of the tableaux, with a thudding passage for brass and drums serving as an emotional bridge.

Sante Romitelli’s score for “Hatchet for the Honeymoon” has fared better and did not require an “overwrite” for its North American release. An oddly ironic score, with heavy classical overtones, Romitelli’s music proides a creepy counterpoint to this favorite Giallo.
Bottom Line: INCREDIBLY COLLECTABLE!
