This one is freakin’ BRILLIANT, boys and girls! Even without the fascinating subtext of the sordid circumstances of the creators, this one is everything we were hoping it would be and SHOULD BE!

“Lucifer Rising” is the early short film from experimental filmmaker and confessed Satanist Kenneth Anger. While he had already found an actor for the title role, he attended a "happening" in San Francisco (where he was currently living) and saw a performance by the 19 year old Bobby BeauSoleil's "Psychedelic chamber music group", The Orkustra. After the show, he approached BeauSoleil to take the lead role in Rising, who agreed on one condition - that he write and have The Orkustra perform the soundtrack.

A 32-page full-color booklet chronicles the history of these recordings, BeauSoleil ‘s involvement with Manson and his 'Family' at Spahn Ranch and features an introduction by director Kenneth Anger, extensive liner notes by occult scholar Michael Moynihan (author of the encyclopedic tome “Lords of Chaos: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground” and lead-man for Blood Axis), and a personal letter from Bobby BeauSoleil as well as dozens of rare photos and memorabilia.

Along with the transcendental Lucifer Rising soundtrack on disc one, we also get the once-lost early demos that formed the basis for the soundtrack proper.

Like a painting from Adolf Wolfli or Joe Coleman, this score is alternately brilliant, beautiful, haunting and profoundly disturbing.
