All praise and honor is due Trunk Records (U.K.), for their new CD featuring the unreleased incidental music from Dawn of the Dead ! Romero's cult classic Dawn Of The Dead is possibly the greatest Zombie movie of all time. Often imitated but never duplicated, DOTD has retained its benchmark status as one of the most influential and popular horror films of all time!Every genre soundtrack collector worthy of the name already has a copy of the famous prog-rock score provided by Goblin (also available on this site – how CONVENIENT…), however the Goblin score is only a small fraction of the original soundtrack. What eager fans have always wanted are the incidental cues: the weirdo electronics; the dramatic underscores; the perversely cheerful muzak cuts. Seriously, fans of this film have been waiting years for this one very special release. Well the wait is over! Carefully compiled on this album are all of these great musical moments. They were chosen for Romero by his friend and fellow horror auteur, Dario Argento as they were cutting the film, and their twisted, dark humor is everywhere in evidence. Brace yourself for the opening track, 'The Gonk', a loopy cut worthy of Raymond Scott at his most demented (recently resurrected in Shaun of the Dead… YES!)! Along with 'The Gonk' is a truly weird and wonderful mélange of tracks -- including the rare country rock cut 'Cause I'm a Man' performed by The Electric Banana (remember the redneck hunting party scene???). What can possibly be said – this is INDISPENSIBLE!p>
