This is the story of Kathy, an inconspicuous young girl who is tormented by her cruel classmates. One day, as a result of an especially mean prank, she runs in front of a car, gets hit and ends up in a coma. However, her spirit awakens in the hospital and slips into the body of Eva, the pretty, new student through whom Kathy takes bloody revenge on her tormentors.

“Aenigma” is a late (1987) Fulci fantasy-shocker that leans pretty heavy on Argento’s “Phenomena” and DePalma’s “Carrie” for inspiration but lacks the style and pacing to deliver the groceries. The cast features Jared Martin, better known as Steven “Dusty” Farlow from the 80s cult TV hit “Dallas”, and Nastassja Kinski’s cousin Lara Naszinsky in addition to a really impressive murder by snails sequence that will leave you scratching your head. Carlo Maria Cordio’s soundtrack keeps the action lively with a mix of ‘80s Beats and Goblinesque grooves.
