Nowadays Guillermo Del Toro is best known for high-profile actioners such as "Hellboy" and "Blade 2" and while both of those films are excellent they can't hold a candle to this 2001 Spanish film. "The Devil's Backbone" - a sophisticated and stylish piece that effectively transposes elements of the classic ghost story, Victorian fairy tale, symbolic metaphors, and human tragedy into a bleak Spanish Civil War setting. It is, simply put, Del Toro's masterpiece… to date.

NOTE: This is the JAPANESE Version of the original soundtrack! It contains ALL TRACKS that appea4ed on the insanely limited North American release. This is a moody and evocative score and features some period recordings. Very lovely stuff!
