For the first time, the COMPLETE Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! 30 Tracks total
Review by Steven A. Kennedy
Here's a score by an Italian great, Bruno Nicolai, for a 1965 film that starred Richard
Harrison. The opening ballad, "Ringo Come to Fight" is sung by Bobby Solo
(obviously influenced by the great Frankie Laine). As a song, it lies firmly
within the style of other similar western ballads. The body of the score is a
wondrous mixture of Copland-esque vistas with a deeper, almost Wagnerian sound.
Nicolai writes music that is at once firmly planted in the Italian classical
orchestral tradition, but also extends into the Americana realm.
…the real value in this disc is the previously unreleased material, which tends to
be more interesting than the old stuff! The sound quality is indicative of the
period… This is not to fault GDM -- they've done a fabulous job of remastering.
