DigitMovies continues its fabulous overview of the scores of Bruno Nicolai with another cool soundtrack from another rare, gory Italian Giallo – this time with the premier release of the complete score to Emilio P. Miraglia’s La Dama Rossa Uccide Sette Volte (AKA Red Queen Kills 7 Times).

Actually more of a “supernatural serial killer” flick than a textbook Giallo, the plot features a curse of an evil Red Queen who returns every hundred years to kill seven times. Nicolai provides an outstanding, tightly constructed score beginning with the main theme presented in really creepy child’s vocal. The richly varied treatments of the theme are contrasted with the regular, formulaic atonal passages fro underscore the murder scenes. All in all, very worth having!
