This is the CD premiere release of the expanded soundtrack for the 1969 popular buddy-team Bud Spencer and Terence Hill pasta western La Collina Degli Stivali (AKA Boot Hill, AKA Boots Hill).
The spaghetti westerns were nothing if not idiosyncratic! This time out, the gunslinger retires to join the circus and become an acrobat! Go figure…
Much of the music here is 'source music' - music that accompanies a scene that in real life would have accompanying music such as a circus, saloon or a scene with can-can dancers. This is definitely an odd and somewhat schizophrenic score… (I can only imagine what sinister, gialloesque ‘Monitor Jazz’ sequences were meant to underscore?!?) but there are some really tasty tracks and some fun circus music (ala Italia).
